I have a Japanese name and Italian roots. I was born in one of the most beautiful places in Italy* and for many years I worked in the fashion industry, where I learnt the importance of wearing the right shade of taupe.
My life-long passion has been helping and supporting human beings to heal, flourish and thrive. This led me to leave the fashion world to pursue two Masters degrees in both Clinical and Positive Psychology from the University of East London, UK. Since then, I've become an advocate for therapies and techniques that can be used to improve psychological functioning and facilitate healing.
During my training in the UK, I had the privilege to assist my father, dr. Bruno Demichelis, a world renowned sport psychologist, at the neuro-lab of a premier League soccer team (Chelsea Fc). Using cutting edge technology in psychology, we were able to help top athletes measure, train and improve their focus, attention stamina and self-regulation. The results were extremely promising.
Working with top athletes, I noticed that even among high performers, there were individuals with internal blocks and/or self-sabotaging types of behaviour. More importantly, I was able to relate, being blocked in certain areas as well.
I learned that when human beings experience trauma, these traumatic events can stay "stuck" in the nervous system and tend to re-appear everytime a trigger awakens them. Ever since, the psychological healing and flourishing of my clients has become my primary focus, combined with the discovery of some techniques that can facilitate the process.
Today I am a Registered Clinical Counsellior (RCC) in the province of British Columbia, Canada, and a certified expert in the use of neurofeedback and biofeedback through the BCIA. My credentials also include training in REBT (cognitive behavioural traning) and EMDR (an evidence based trauma healing technique). I am trained in Somatic Experiencing.
I am trained in Mindfulness with Bangor University, UK and I am a meditation teacher.
I am an accredited counsellor with the British Columbia’s Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP), funded by Ministry of Justice.
I am a member of Breathe Network, a connector for survivors of sexual trauma and trauma-informed, holistic therapists
I believe that therapy is key to removing the blocks that keep us from being our most optimal selves and that we all deserve the opportunity to thrive. I feel honored and grateful to be a part of my clients' healing journey towards reaching their potential.
I am the founder and main faculty teacher of Canada's only accredited 200hrs Meditation course, The Lab of Meditation. Next Cohort starts on the 17th of March in Vancouver, Canada.
